BIOGRAPHY - KAZAMORTI
1994 (Zagreb-Split)
Based in the seaside city of Split, Kazamorti are the musical project of singers Ana Ivana Juranovic and Toni Kesic (aka Kessah), as well as Mak Jovanovic (aka Discopath, Pticoliki), who is in charge of guitars and sound. Their roots go back to the mid 90s guitar wave band of the same name from Zagreb, which later on moved to producing a specific blend of electronica and cabaret music in Split.

In recent years, they have worked on improving their blend of electronica and cabaret and have also taken on working with sound samples of indigenous Dalmatian singing (www.imota.net/gangawerk).

For their live performances, Kazamorti are supported by keyboard player Milivoj Rilov, drummer Ivan Zelic from the band Djeca, and percussionist Miso Popovic formerly of band Leut Magnetic. Kazamorti are currently finishing up the music video for their song "Kazaljke" (Watch hands), which is directed by Davor Medjurecan, an acclaimed animation artist from Zagreb (won the price Oktavijan for his film "Ciganjska" (The gypsy way). The music video will introduce the forthcoming album "Minestrone" expected to be completed by mid 2005.

During the past ten years, Kazamorti have recorded several songs in very different musical styles, most of which have been compiled on 1997's promotional CD "Meso grimizne musice" and 2004's album "Karnevalle".
On a side note, the name Kazamorti was derived from kacamorti, a term which had been used in the late medieval Republic of Dubrovnik for the health police – a special police unit that had to prevent the spreading of diseases and thus watched the gates to the city making sure that sick people were not permitted entry.
