BIOGRAPHY - CASTRO (2004.- .)

The Castro band was born at the end of the year 2004 on the ashes of the Kazamorti band - aiming at putting together cabaret and electronic music, with occasional vocalising of the Dalmatian natives - namely, the "gangas."

There are three singers in the band (i.e. 6 vocal chords all in all): Ana-Ivana Juranovic, vocalist from the town of Makarska, Toni Kesic-Kessah (ex Black Coffee and ABBA from Split) and Robert Martinov-Robster (an international bum with a string of all-across-the-board projects and obscure concerts under his belt).

The programming and guitars are in the trembling hands of Mak Jovanovic, while Milivoj Rilov holds the keyboards (he's also the big chief in the barbershop band Tragus, an athlete in the acrobatic troop Lokva and one of the very few male members of the Nurses' Choir of the Split Hospital. As of late, Castro has had a brand new addition in the person of the professor Boris Zdero (the Nokturno and No Comment bands). This group of musicians occasionally greets such musicians as the Swedish violinist Nilla Axelson and Djani Gunjaca, their mentor, who plays accordion in the virtual world, but is a true pioneer of the porno telephony in Croatia as far as the real world goes.

The band has recorded material for their album Minestrone and they are currently looking for a serious producer to come up with the final mix. Last year they have produced a debut video for the song "Kazaljke," directed by the well-known animator Davor Medjurecan (awarded with the Oktavijan award for the animated film "Ciganjska" and co-author of the recently released and highly appraised movie "Silencijum."In cooperation with him and with the members of the Cinema Club Split, Castro will be shooting the new video for the song "Karneval."
